Sorry you haven't heard from me lately. I forgot how to get on my blog and post another comment...lol. And some of you want me to open a Face Book page....so much technology and so little time. Here goes:
Snacks are the toughest part of my day. If I only eat fruit, my blood sugar isn't happy so I try to combine complex carbs with protein. Really a mini meal is what I enjoy most. I like almond butter crackers, a quarter of a sandwich or trail mix best. I'd like ideas from you...please.
My favorite Almond Butter is made by Woodstock Farms. When I buy it there is a layer of oil on top which needs to be stirred in to the almond butter at the bottom of the jar. It seems very expensive but I have found it goes a lot further than regular peanut butters which generally have lots of air whipped into the contents in the jar.
I've started saving half or a quarter of my sandwich from lunch (Cheryl is laughing at this because when I have lunch with her I eat everything in sight) to eat as a snack later. This time of year it keeps well in my car.
This is one of my favorite snacks. I buy Bear Naked all natural granola (fruit and nut in the orange package is the best) and add grain sweetened chocolate chips (Sunspire makes them). These can be placed in portion sized containers.
A few other good snacks are Rice Works gourmet brown rice crisps- sea salt flavor, Tostitos Natural blue corn chips and Pure Bars- I like the Wildblueberry and Apple Cinnamon ones best.
